Mt4 Build 418 and EA's

Hi folks, anyway to keep the old versions of mt4 preferably 409? I upgraded to 418 recently and all my EA's don't seem to work now.

Probably a good idea to decline the update when you first see it come up and copy the whole mt4 folder to a second location/rename it in the current location. Then you can update one but leave the other on the old version. Make sure all your EA's work on the new build before dispensing with the old or updating it as well.

Drats too late to do that. I can't find the pepper mt4 build 409 anymore so can i use the metaquotes version instead of my brokers version?

Paste this file into the main folder of mt4, its a build 409 terminal.exe file. Please first copy your mt4 folder to another location so it doesnt screw anything up if it fails to work (but it should)

It should do exactly that. But copy your mt4 folder somewhere else first in case it causes problems.

Thanks M, seems to have done the trick. The EA's are working now bar one. Will see what the situation is when the platform opens. So should i just keep clicking cancel on future updates.

In build 418, MetaQuotes claim to have fixed a problem with dll calls.

Well, they've certainly fixed it. Some dll calls now return rubbish.

So if you are running any EAs which call dlls, they may no longer work on build 418.

Very worrying.

The above link should get you build 406 for pepperstone but I'm not sure if it's or razor or standard accounts...and not sure what the difference between platforms is anyhow.

Thanks all, yeah 999, i think some of my EA's were making DLL calls and all sorts of weird crap turned up on the chart. Stupid enough i did not backup my local copy when updating to 418 but the terminal file provided by M seems to have turned it back to 409. I think I'll download the one provided by CP as well just as insurance.

Yeah i am also not sure what the differences between broker versions are? I thought that even if i download the generic 409 from metaquotes and login using pepper it should work? Branding maybe?

Brokers should save old versions in case the software vendor blow things up.

Yes keep clicking cancel. Or if you want the update prompt to go away, rename the liveupdate.exe file to for example liveupdateoff, and it will stop prompting you to update. If you want to have the platform ask to be updated again in the future, just name it back to liveupdate.exe

Keep in mind if you do update now though that MT4 will automatically update without asking you from now on.  I think this is as of build 416.

It seems MetaQuotes have conceded there is a problem in build 418 and are hoping to release a "fix within a few days".

I have successfully downloaded a generic build 409 and this is working fine.

To do the same:-

Close your MT4.
Backup your entire MT4 folder (just in case!).
Get a generic 409 terminal.exe and load it over the top of the 418 version.
Rename LiveUpdate.exe to NoLiveUpdate.exe to stop the automatic update from functioning.
Open MT4.

After Metaquotes has fixed the problem, you will need to rename NoLiveUpdate.exe back to LiveUpdate.exe so future updates will work.

i notice that the latest versions also show up your last log in locations in the journal. doesnt sound like anything beneficial to me but the broker. BTW, i hear the newer builds were made to work against MDP style trading so i have always stayed with 409.
