Has anyone bought these robots? (SmartFXTechnology)
« on: July 30, 2011, 03:14:42 am »
I can't find reviews anywhere.
Here is the link
http://www.robot-forex-trading.com/Smart_FX_Technology/Forex_Trading_Robot.html

Here are the MT4 live statements
http://masterscalperrobot.mt4live.com/
http://breakouthunter.mt4live.com/

Also they sell their robots on amazon
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=bl_sr_software?_encoding=UTF8&node=229534&field-brandtextbin=Smart%20FX%20Technology

They seem reliable when I chat with them, they actually admited that the posted results on their website are from a backtest and not actual ones.

edit from donnaforex: just included the name of the site in the title so people know what is under discussion

3 years back testing for scalper look good, 1m chart with 25% quality.

I've noticed that it has total of 27590 trades over 5 currencies in 3 years, so that is like 766 trades a month? :)]
no forward testing, no detailed testing, pay with paypal, not even demo testing. Unless I get some proof that this one doesn't blow account, I'll pass.

Are you sure you mean 25% quality as in modelling quality?

If so, I'm sorry to tell you that 25% is worse than useless.

Thanks for the info guys, however I think that the MT4 live statements look good, although I agree with what you mentioned about the backtesting.

Yup, 25% is pretty much useless. If there was a forward test, I might be inclined to give it a try. There is nothing, and back test on website doesn't even show the trades info.

I read somewhere that 25% is the best possible on the 1 minute timeframe, with the exception of tick data backtesting, so maybe the backtests are OK.

i am little wary of the money back guarantee policy (Through paypal means its hard to obtain) i remember once i got caught to crap collection of EA :D although it wasnt a big amount, nevertheless its money.Hope the developer can do something to remove/cast out our  (traders) fear of not having our money back if the product is not performing as advised/stated. :D

Hi traders,
My name is Robert and I am the co-developer of the EAs offered by Smart Fx Technology.
I was just invited to join the Forum by trader@home, who suggested I clarify some issues. Thanks trader@home.
We have been trading our EAs in our own Live accounts for 4 years, and we do trade exactly the same EA with the exact same presets, every day, in our Live accounts and those of a small group of friend/clients whose accounts we handle. Basically we put our money where our mouth is.
We publish backtestings that show 25% quality because, like muzzamcc points out, on M1, without tick data, that is the best you can get. We find them very reliable. The Historical Data used is not the usual downloaded data from Metaquotes, but actual Live Data that we have collected over the years from MB Trading, which is our broker. We only publish 3 years of results because the market changed too much after 2008 to consider older results relevant.
We publish updates when needed and email them to our clients, free of charge of course. They are not needed too often.
We are currently offering Live Test Results (our Live Forward Test...), using MT4s both with MB Trading and with FinFx accounts. We prefer ECN brokers, naturally, particularly on the Scalping EA (Master Scalper).
The scalping EA places about 10 trades per day. The trend following EA (Breakout Hunter) between 2 and 3 trades per day.
The Master Scalper trades EurChf, EurGbp, EurCad, EurAud and UsdJpy. The Breakout Hunter trades EurUsd.
We pride ourselves in our customer service. We support traders 24/7 and we go all the way. Chat, e-mail, even remote-assistance if someone is very new at this or just needs extra help.
I don't want to sound like a commercial here, so if anyone has more questions, I'll answer them when posted.
I would appreciate that if someone posts a comment or question, if you could also send us a copy to our email (smartfx@me.com) so I can answer questions promptly.
Thanks for your interest in our EAs.
Sincerely,
Robert

You are right, even though at the MT4 live statements I saw 100 to 300 pips stop loss at the scapler robot, they told that this is not true ???

Ok, let me explain how it works:
The Robot opens 2 or 3 orders that make up the whole position. They may be opened simultaneously or a few pips apart depending on the price action.
The Stop Loss that counts is the one for the first entry. The other positions close automatically when the first one closes.
We put there a high number in the SL of the second or third order, so they do not get in the way. The one that counts is the SL of the first order. If you check the closing of the positions in the Live Tests, they all close together with the first order, at SL 12 pips or higher, depending on the pair.
Hope this clarifies the SL issue.
Robert

Yes, I just reread the post. :)
No forward testing on the website.
I took a look at them both, so far I have a mixed opinion :)

The SL for the Scalper is 12 to 35 depending on the pair, and for the Trending Robot (Breakout Hunter) is 108.
The idea is to be outside the normal channel for the trading times so we don't get caught by our own SL all the time.
