USDBot

USDBot is the one we are hearing the most shouting about on our email the past week or two so i decided to get it when it was released for sale today.

Immediately, i was dismayed to discover the upsell tactics on proud display yet again. Once you have payed out $149 for the system, you are sent to another sales page promising you something even bigger and even better, ONLY another $77. I went for it in the interests of research. That wasn’t the end of it, there was yet another upsell after this, saying something about how special i was – one of the “chosen ones”, i now had access to the manual system behind USDBot, for ONLY another $49!!! Well, i wasn’t going to fall for that one and just clicked the “no” option then got presented with yet another sales page offering me that same manual system for $27 (sorry, anyone who purchased it at $49!).

Anyway, annoying sales tactics aside, here are our stats for the account starting today (note, if this is blank it is because the account was only started today! click the graph to view detailed stats):-

We are running USDBot (original) plus the upsell USDBOT Adaptive, both on the daily charts of the recommended two currency pairs, EURUSD and USDJPY.

On first glance i really do not feel this robot is ‘newbie’ friendly. The instructions are very brief, and some essential elements of the install/setup process are not described. The original USDbot is not adaptive to 5 digit brokers – although the vendor does provide a settings file for those who are unsure of how to alter the settings. I would recommend using this even if you are sure of the settings, because there is a lot that needs changing for 5 digit brokers.

Confusingly, the ‘adaptive usdbot’ is compatible with 5 digit brokers although there is no obvious mention of that until you open up the settings and discover that yourself in the settings list. This had me hunting around their site for a time looking to see if they had a .set file for this strategy as they do for the original, before i realised. It doesn’t help that they actually use the same trading manual for both systems, even though they are very obviously pretty different from one another. I don’t know if i’m missing something, but i also cannot find a comprehensive list of what all the settings are and mean, and there are a fair few settings in the list. Most of them are self-explanatory for the more advanced robot trader, but for a newbie they will be very bewildering.

USDBot uses a take profit and stoploss of 100 pips, and implements a trailing stop of 30 pips. The adaptive version appears to have stochastic indicators built in to it of which there are settings in the parameter list. The EA is ECN compatible and there is a setting to adjust for ECN/nonECN (an issue i didn’t find explained in the manual and so could be a problem for newbies again if you do not know what ECN means – if in doubt, always put ECN mode on, it won’t actually hurt if your broker is not ECN). Original USDBot has a money management setting, but the ‘adaptive usdbot’ does not – something i’m not understanding at the moment but that’s how it is.

Sorry to say that this long review has been more about their sales and processes rather than the robot, but it’s all i can comment on right now… and wanted to get something up as a lot of people are emailing us asking about this one. Do keep an eye on our results, they will tell the truth behind this EA and whether it really performs as well as they claim it will, etc. something which in my mind is in serious question since the vendors own live account is still very new.

Finally, the EA is sold via Clickbank, complete with their usual money back guarantees.

Hey Donna, isn’t the usdbot adaptive suppose to run on the EURUSD Hourly Chart?

From their website underneath the Adaptive download box:

“Run it on the 1H EURUSD Chart.”

  2. Donna says:

    Hi,

In the download page and instructions, it says to set it up the same as for usdbot.. which has a recommended D1 timeframe, but they also mention that if you haven’t got any trades you can drop it onto a H1 chart to get some action.

My account is doing something crazy! Look at all these trades: http://www.m4i.com/users/donnaforexusdbot not sure what is going on there (!)

  3. Lucky says:

Hi Donna, the link that you have posted is missing a “t”. it should be http://www.mt4i.com/users/donnaforexusdbot

  4. Lambsi says:

    Hi Donna,

USDBOT’s website clearly states that USDBOT Adaptive should be run on th 1H chart, not the daily. Only the installation instructions are the same as for USDBOT “classic”.
Let’s see how it goes. Looks like a scam to me so far.

  5. Donna says:

I think something has gone a bit wrong with my stats and it just went crazy opening trades… i’m going to restart it again (!) (i did have all different magic numbers, etc… so its a bit strange!)

  6. liz says:

Heaps of trades and all of them are losses ! I guess if you could make the robot to do the reverse of what it is doing, then instead of losing $1000, you would get $1000.

About the upsell tactics, it actually gets more dirty then you stated.

    1. Instead of purchasing for $149, i just try to leave the usdbot.com main page, i got a $10 discount.

    2. When i got the upsell for $77, i actually click right at the Bottom : No thanks. Guess what i got the same adaptive robot then as a downsell for $47 but it is exactly same stuff as advertised on the $77 page !

The biggest selling point was “Live Customer Support”. This was live on Day – 1, but has disapeared from Day 0.

One really weird thing with USDbot, is that the software dont need any clickbank receipt code like fapturbo and Megadroid. So, this EA bot of 2 years of development dont have any anti piracy scheme.

    Strange ?

  7. Daniel says:

It seems like a EA designed by Willie E. Coyote

  8. Donna says:

yeah i fell for the full $77 there, ah well.

Very true about piracy. Clickbank + non protected software = buy and refund abuse party time. Clickbank is great because of its strong buyer protection and honouring of money back guarantees, but yeah – if i had spent so long developing something i’d make absolutely sure these people after a free EA wouldn’t be able to just buy and then refund and actually get away with it (!)

Working on setting a new account up, but alpari’s demo servers seem to be down, it’s not opening new accounts. I’ll replace the current stats with my new ones when i have them – and will just start with original usdbot on its own incase they were clashing somehow – it did say that they were best not put together (although it implied that they could work together also).

  9. roland says:

    hi Donna,

how can you endorse then such a thing without prior checks, more than their beahaviour it is your credibility that disappoints me or were you just after the commissions and now seem to wake up to the reality ?? I am really puzzled I sincerely thought hihg of you welll….

  10. liz says:

I am also using error USB adaptive and am getting the error : opening Buy Order : Invalid Stops (130).

I did apply the 5 digits presets as per my broker.

Any advice how to fix this?

  11. Donna says:

    Roland,

I’m not endorsing them at all.. if you read my whole review above it is actually quite negative in tone…
as for the affiliate sales.. contrary to popular belief i am not an affiliate queen and i haven’t made a single sale of usdbot, perhaps based on my above negative review… and what’s more i don’t care if i make a sale or not, indeed any sales are likely to be refunded from what i’ve seen thus far :=) One of my goals in making the review in the first place without any solid results in place was to highlight some of the issues i found and as a result of getting so many emails in my inbox from people seemingly excited to buy it.

  12. Donna says:

    Liz,

Sorry, not sure i can help there… but something to check may be those presets you said you loaded. I haven’t seen any presets for the adaptive strategy – but there is a setting in the parameters list which turns it into 5 digit compatible. (see my review above, it’s quite confusing the way they did this!).

  13. liz says:

I agree with Donna, there is no sale pitch in her review.Indeed she is mentioning mostly the negative aspects of usdbot !

  14. sodeypunk says:

so looking at my logs after 2 days of testing USDBot and USDBot Adaptive, I got zero trades for USDBot on the Daily chart for EURUSD and USDJPY. I got tons of trades for USDBot Adaptive on the 1H chart but they never opened because of an “invalid stop” error. Anyone else having this problem?

  15. pierluigi says:

It is not possible to have a professional product without a manual describing the parameter needed to configure the EA!
In addition the results can be obtained only if we integrate the standard version with an add-on to pay of 77$.

I purchased it but this is not a good presentation for them…

It is normal that every product contains information to set the right parameters, not only the installation procedure, otherwise I can not use it, and I could ask a refund for this..
At the moment I remove it on my charts, I will run on demo looking for understanding the right parameters….:-(

  16. Metal says:

    hi Donna,
I had puchased the usdbot and run it in demo account. I’m facing the same result as what you get as well. It just simply open a lot of trades. And I assume the EA is a scam and I submit a return ticket in clickbank.

    Thanks & regards,
    Metal

  17. dya says:

    A few more issues:

    1. The examples show SL and TP in the range of 30-50 pips whereas they are 100 pips (400 pips TP for 5 digit brokers) in the purchased version.
    2. The examples have 4-12 trades per day whereas the purchased version had only 1 trade on D1 charts but 4-5 trades on H1 charts.
    3. Lots of “invalid lots number for OrderClose function” errors under Experts tab.
    4. More than 10 differences between the 4 digit and 5 digit broker settings which are not in 1:10 ratio as mentioned in the manual.

#1 and #2 suggest that the results in the examples were obtained on H1 charts with 30-50 pip SL and TP. If those results are legit, why haven’t they used the settings used there in the final version?

#3 points to poor programming since it is trivial to get the no. of lots using the OrderLots() function.

Don’t know what to think about #4 except that they were done by different people who were not working together.

All in all, not a very good start.

  18. Donna says:

sodey – yes i think everyone, or nearly everyone is having the order send error, it is ‘bad coding’ in the EA and is incredibly simple to fix if a coder knows what they are doing.

  19. pierluigi barbieri says:

    Hi Donna,
    I have a question:
I installed the USDBOT and modify only the money management parameters. I put the chart H1..
Th eproblem is that the EA present the level where trigger buy or sell but do not execute automatically the trade… It seems only to present when you need to apply manual the suggestion show on the chart…I have the standard version and I setup the 5-digit broker..
Is this EA full automatic or not?
    thanks Pierluigi

  20. Donna says:

The EA is fully automatic but it does have a setting in it to turn it into a signal-only service. “signals only” parameter should be set to FALSE to get it to manage trades automatically.

  21. Kyle says:

So, Donna, what’s your verdict on USDbot? Did you figure out why your trades immediately went south and you lost $1000K? I’m a complete newbie to the Forex market, but the concept behind USDbot does make sense–although it seems too good to be true. And I loathe their marketing tactics which leads me to believe that it’s a piece of junk with fancy “packaging” that won’t really make any money. Any additional feedback would be appreciated. Your site is the only unbiased, honest one I can find that isn’t just seeking to make a buck via affiliate marketing. =(

  22. Daniel says:

I’m seeing good results in ForexPeaceArmy and 4xProject.
    Weird.

  23. Donna says:

I cannot get mine to function correctly at all – i’ve written to the developers yesterday, no response yet.

Assuming i can get it to trade correctly then we are looking at a good 4 to 6 weeks to get any idea of how good it is and make a ‘verdict’ one way or another – impossible to tell with a couple of days.

  24. Gordon says:

Donna, could you look at a trade which appears in the live results on the USDBOT sales page. It is in the last of the Not a backtest Not a simulation results on the usd/jpy.
    Here are the details
    84783083 2010.01.18 08:39 buy 1.00 usdjpy 91.01 90.61 91.31 2010.01.19 15:39 91.15 0.00 0.00 -2.78 153.59.

Can you check this on an Interbank platform and tell me how this trade could possibly have worked out or am I missing something.

  25. Gordon says:

Just had a thought about it. If it uses an initial 100 pip stop (from what I can gather) and then uses a trailing stop this could answer how the trade wasn’t stopped out at 90.61.

  26. Johnny Goodtimes says:

Crashed 2 x $15,000 (Go Markets) 300:1 DEMO accounts due to opening far to many trades- Margin Calls.

USDBOT Adaptive – EURUSD H1 – (Default Settings)
    USDBOT – EURUSD H1 & USDJPY H1 (Altered Settings)

    USDBOT (Altered Settings):
ALERTS, SIGNALMAIL, PLAYSOUNDS, ECNBROKER, MONEYMANAGEMENT = All set to TRUE

    LOTS = 0.5
    RISK = 1
    MAGICNUMBERS (EURUSD) = 14995
    MAGICNUMBERS (EURJPY) = 14996

Donna is right about Live Chat being “Offline”
    Only email works.

    Anybody with the same results?

  27. David says:

Gordon Bennet, it sounds like a nightmare. The sales tactics alone would have me rushing for the refund. Life is too short to test stuff from garbage vendors.

  28. pierluigi says:

At the moment I am losting 1000$ . The EA opened 32 !!!!!!! contract on USD/JPG and 6 contract on EUR/US…. It is not possible because I set 3 as risk and 0.3 as lot with money management enabled with a starting budget of 3500 Euro…
Could anybody explain why he opened so many trades? :-( (((((((((((((((((((

  29. This is one crazy bot but doing nice job (if it is real)
Yesterday i got 3 trades (+300, +250, +415), so i though thise are going up, They were not i closed them manualy whit something -100.
In my opinion this bot is risky , needs constant observation or good TP and SP.
Now i have open trade -750.
    I dont like that.
    Here are my stats.

  30. sfazzani says:

I bought this system hoping (I say hoping) for the profits they were promising. But I too lost lots of paper money (luckily!)

I have tried alpari, gallant, and even what they recommended, forex meta

I lost almost £3000 paper money on all except the forex meta but the robot simply does not trade on forex meta it just sits there and does nothing.

I tried loading the adaptive and non adaptive, hourly and daily charts. I even used the set files for 5 digits but no luck. I am running on a vps so you cannot say its my environment either!

I have emailed then saying if I dont get an explanation of as to why it totally does not work I will get my money back and I will post to lots of forums expressing my concerns!

My Opinion so far ? (Big Marketing Ploy with lots of affiliates on the web to back it up) Luckily it comes with a 60 day money back guarantee!

  31. Rich says:

Well, I also bought USDBOT, hoping to get profits like how they showed on their website. The only thing wrong I found on their website, after having bought the EA already, is that their website only shows live accounts for about 1 week or two, and have stopped showing any updates to those accounts since Jan. 22nd. What happened to this week of trading for them? After thinking about it, the “live statements” could always just be manual trades, or photo shopped in to make it look like USDBOT did good trades. But I am hoping this is not the case.

They boast about great customer service and live chat, but ever since the launch on the 26th, never has it ever been active (i.e. The live chat). They must be getting swarms of emails and questions I’m sure, but I think it is mainly due to the brief and short guide they provide, of which I was extremely disappointed. I have emailed them 3 times, and they have finally answered them, but with very brief answers which made me more confused. So rating it, their customer service right now is a 4/10 to me.

So far, I have had about 6 trades, but only 2 on the USDBOT Adaptive on the H1 chart, and the remaining 4 trades with the EURUSD, with USDBOT on the H1 chart. I haven’t really made much, but I do agree that the EA is extremely risky. My broker is Forex Meta, and I also get that “invalid lot size” error as well. The EA doesn’t seem to trade on the Daily charts for me right now.

Looking at their website now, I am hoping they are true to their committed “limited copies available” promise. It seems like if there are too many copies sold, the EA may just be like other EAs I’ve bought, working for only a little while, but not really afterward.

Overall, USDBOT so far has not been up to my expectations, but after the end of next week and the next couple weeks, we’ll all see if this EA really performs as it is claimed to! Good luck trading!

  32. Donna says:

I just had a response from their support people in regard to my queries. It was four words long: “try on daily settings”. Actually, it would have been preferable for them not to reply at all instead of to reply with this.

  33. pierluigi says:

Hi all, I advice you do not try to put the chart on H1 as made myself…this have an effect to open the 28th at 0.40 GMT 18 sell trades at 89.614 price on USD/JPN…the currency reach 90.347 and I close manually all…at the end I had 2056 EURO less…
I believe that there is some problem with H1 set…

    cheers, pierluigi

  34. PJPR says:

Hi there, I am experiencing the same problems as many others on this site. I have tried Gallant FX, Alpari UK, FXCM & even ForexMeta as suggested by Mark Trenton himself. Forunately, these are all demo accounts running on a VPS. So far, every single account has lost massive amounts of cash. The main reason seems to be that this EA opens far too many trades at the same time & causes lots of margin calls, even with low risk settings. I too have had problems with their support response but luckily this morning received an email stating “The settings that come with the bot are optimized already. So those should work. We will also be releasing an advanced settings guide soon for all our members for free.

It waits for the precise point of entry. So it may take a bit before it trades. It’s normal.” This does not address the issues I am having with USDBOT & to leave the settings as they state on a LIVE money account would be financial suicide.

It seems to me that “SCAM” is written all over this EA. I don’t understand the mentality of producing a product that obviously does not work for the majority when a refund is guaranteed. I guess we have 2 choices, stick with the product for 2 months to find out if it works (which I doubt), if not request a refund otherwise request a refund now & keep the product anyway (for what it’s worth). I’m sure you will still be able to use it, especially as there is no parameter for your clickbank keycode. Has anybody ever come across an EA with this many issues on release?

    Happy trading, Paul

  35. Donna says:

I’ve certainly seen bad bots released before now on a par with USDBOT- normally the bots sold with bigger launches at least have their act together with regards to providing proper documentation to users though and basic functioning on the robot.

I can only assume that the vendor in this case just didn’t have a clue what he was doing. Obviously, they are good at marketing and i respect that as a skill itself, but it seems they do not know a single thing about their product, like if it works at all or what the settings all do apparently (which as traders we are more concerned about than the marketing of course!). A simple beta-test of around 20 people even would have picked up on every single one of these issues, especially the one about the lack of material for what the settings are, if not the bugs in the EA themselves. There has been absolutely no preparation involved it seems apart from the effort put into maximising upsells, conversions, affiliate prizes and all that. Very disappointing as we just don’t know if there is a good EA/concept lurking there underneath it all. I’ll wait it out for a few weeks to see if they come up with anything which fixes it but it isn’t looking good.

The failure to continue running their live account performance on their homepage is a big mistake too from a PR point of view and doesn’t do much to soothe the hungry masses of buyers they now have.

  36. pierluigi says:

Hi PjPr, as said before, I had the idea to put it directly on my online account, and I forget to put guards to avoid big losses…I trust on this product because he was also adviced from Rob Casey on his site, I subscribed the Casey fapturbo guide, and I believed that he was confident that this product was good.. After sending the fxcm broker list with 32 trades loss to Marc Trenton he sent me an email saying the same things that you received: “The settings that come with the bot are optimized already. So those should work. We will also be releasing an advanced settings guide soon for all our members for free.”"… before happened this I sent a claim to USDBOT staff because I had not a manual to set the parameters and this could have bad effect on my money..and this happened..Now they decide to give free of charge a manual to clients….

Adaptive seems to be working fine for me on Alpari UK Demo,..

  38. James says:

    Hi Donna,

I’m really glad that I read your updates. I was planning on buying this robot next week. Guess I will save myself some money and the problems. Its sad that they would market a product that is so obviously flawed. Congratulating you again on your usual unbiased reviews.

  39. randy says:

Hi Donna , A friend on mine knows USDBOT (Mark ) thru business connections ..USDBOT has sold over 10,000 copies !!( you just know that everyone will not get around to asking for a refund , so that leaves these people with some very good coin and the rest of us with nothing !!) In my case On the advanced EA,the EA will on its own,, Add 600 pips to S/L and 300 pipe to T/P ?????????????

I think we have another piece of junk!!

  40. Bernie says:

Well I am confused. I have run USDBOT on 27,28,29.
My live account is small and had 396 Euro, this bot raised it to 440 euro. My demo had 3600 in it and at close on Friday my demo was up to 4394 and has a roll of 994. I trade with Alpari and adjusted the lot size on the live acc to 0.1 and left the demo at 1 lot. I initiated trailing stop on each one.¡¡¡¡¡¡???

  41. Sandy Price says:

    Well…
I did EURUSD backtests and the main USDBOT does okay on the daily chart if you use fixed lots (their default). If you set money management on the same thing, it loses money in the last 9 months or so. It took several tries to get an appropriate answer from them but finally they admitted money management was not functioning properly and they will supposedly being shipping a fix. Anyway, traded on a daily basis with fixed lots, the main USDBOT *did* make money over the past two years. I have seen it make a bit of money in forward test on a demo account and I have not seen the behavior some mention of opening many, many trades.

I backtested the main robot with hourly timeframe and it loses money steadily; I would ignore their recommendation to try it on an hourly basis.

As a number of you noticed, the “Adaptive” robot is very different, it doesn’t have money management for instance, and a two year backtest goes broke unless you set very low lot sizes, and loses money in any case.

Their “trading guide” does not match what either robot does; both show the zigzag indicator in use in backtest and the trading guide does not mention it. As I knew from using it myself the zigzag indicator is not reliable on hours, I tried backtest with 4 hours intervals and the adaptive robot actually makes money on a short backtest that way. I’m trying a forward test with it in that setting.

Odds are I will return all but the main robot, and I may return that.

  42. Rich says:

Wow, 10,000 copies! I asked customer support on USDBOT if they were seriously going to limit their copies sold, but they didn’t reply to that question in my email. It seems they briefly look at our questions, then answer in less than a few words, like Donna said above, “try on daily settings”

I asked about the license and they said, “You can use it on multiple accounts that’s fine”

I asked about the settings, they said, “The settings that come with the bot are optimized already. So those should work. We will also be releasing an advanced settings guide soon for all our members for free.”

Then, about the Adaptive for 5 digit brokers, they said, “USDBOT Adaptive will automatically be adjust to the settings.”

It seems their answers are similar, and looks like copy/paste answers. We don’t even know who is answering. If it really in Mark Trenton, or someone from his staff. I think before they release a new EA, including new pairs, they need to make sure the first EA they’ve released is good and reliable. As the front page suggests, this is supposedly an EA created by a college student and some computer science-related students. So, I wonder if this EA really is legit. We will see after the next couple weeks.

  44. Donna says:

Sure, we use affiliate links in our posts and newsletters- i’m not ashamed of that, i have a business here. I’d only be ashamed of myself if i wrote stuff that wasn’t true in order to make a sale. If you ever want a non-affiliate link to a site you can feel free to email me and i will make sure you get one so that you do not give me any money to support my site unnecessarily – i might just go spend this money on my family rather than on putting it into my research and into sacrifical trading accounts for testing purposes, you never know ;-) . (some of the links in other website reviews may appear to be non-affiliate links but they are well cloaked, naughty really- i won’t do that here)

For anyone interested, i mentioned earlier i didn’t make any USDBot sales – that is still the case :=). If these guys get their act together and fix their robot problems it may turn out good in which case i can write a proper review of the system itself rather than their failings in marketing and in the bot function (and also get affiliate sales yes). If they fix it and it is still junk i will still say so too.

I think i’m a pretty bad affiliate actually – no email blasts, no hyped up claims, negative reviews… but hey, when a good product does finally come along i would hope people will support all my work and research by using my links, but it’s not compulsory ;-) .

  45. Donna says:

Oops sorry i did make a sale: http://www.donnaforex.com/images/clickbank.jpg
to myself, ;) but i will refund myself if the robot doesn’t improve that’s for sure. I think i missed out here, could have made a few hundred sales perhaps if i had written something positive. So yeh, think you’re picking on the wrong affiliate here :)

    2) This was 2 days after I emailed support. You can see the response is almost automated but a different broker is recommended.

The settings that come with the bot are optimized already. So those should
work. We will also be releasing an advanced settings guide soon for all
    our members for free.

I’d recommend using FXDD (4 digits) and use the default settings. We have

Are you using 4 or 5 digits?

We will be releasing an update by Monday morning

So I am awaiting this update and I am going to test the brokers they recommended on daily, hourly settings. I will also test the adaptive and non adaptive versions on these brokers using realistic account sizes of £600 and £1500 or dollars. I am not so confident yet but lets see and I will keep you all updated.

In the manual it states if you run the bot on two different IP addresses, your robot will be automatically banned. If that were the case they wouldn’t need to have a receipt code or similar to battle piracy and “buy and refund abuse party time.” They can just ban you. However, one of the previous posts stated that they said “You can use it on multiple accounts that’s fine.” I assume they are referring to the same computer (which wouldn’t show as a different IP address) or they are lying about the banning process altogether. I was going to test it, as I run my demo on a workstation at my house and my live accounts on a dedicated server. But, with the slowness of their responses, apparent canned answers, bugs and bad results, I think I’ll just wait to test that. Anyone else been banned?

The one thing I didn’t like about buying the Adaptive robot is that they sold it as if it were cohesive/synergystic/etc with USDBOT. Then you find out that they don’t recommend you run the two robots on the same MT4 platforms.

I posted something earlier and today Monday my results are; the live account had no roll over has opened both pairs amd is up 14 PIPS. The DEMO acc closed both pairs on trailing stop. USDJPY made 300.98 pounds and EURUSD made 646.24 pounds which has raised my balance to 5257 and has two open trades with a total of 114 PIPS 248 pounds. I have received an email with updates to the EA and the Guide and I will post should I see more negative comments. Thanks Donna for this as it gives every one chance to see other traders points.
